NATICK – More than two dozen new apartments would come to Natick Center under a proposal for a Willow Street parcel.

Mechanic Willow LLC is looking to add the housing to its 19 Willow St. property.

Eleven apartments would be created by renovating the vacant second floor of an existing building clad with bluish gray siding. The remaining 16 apartments would be built in a new, four-story building in the northwest corner of the property near Mechanic Street, said Ken Mackin, a representative of the property owner.

The development would be build under the town’s HOOP zoning, which allows for denser development in exchange for benefits such as affordable housing.

The Willow Street project would exceed the HOOP zoning’s 15 percent affordable housing requirement by making almost 20 percent of the units affordable, Mackin said.
