A Burlington developer wants to convert a former nursing home into apartments in the Fairmount Hill area of Hyde Park.

Nordblom Co. filed plans with the Boston Planning & Development Agency for a 46-unit apartment building at 735 Truman Highway. The $6 million project would maintain the site’s 62 parking spaces.

The existing three-story brick building targeted for the project is vacant, formerly serving as the Parkwell Nursing & Rehab Center until it lost its license and closed last April. Nordblom purchased the property for $1.3 million in February from Atlanta’s Formation Capital, according to records filed with the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds. The site is less than a half-mile from the Fairmont stop of the MBTA’s Fairmont commuter rail line.
