Boston College details field house plans

Boston College has filed plans with the city for a new athletic field house on Shea Field on the school’s lower campus in Brighton.

The 115,700-square-foot field house with an 86,700-square-foot synthetic turf surface — large enough for a full-size football field — would provide indoor playing and practice space for BC’s football team and other varsity, club and intramural sports teams.

The football team would no longer have to travel to Gillette Stadium to practice indoors during inclement weather, according to plans filed with the Boston Planning & Development Agency.
