lowell-highendLOWELL- Developer Dave Daly has received approval to demolish a long-empty one-story brick building on East Merrimack Street, ultimately to make way for what could be 63 high-end housing units.

Demolition required Conservation Commission approval, which was given Wednesday, because of the site’s location on the banks of the Concord River.

Daly, the CEO of the ambulance company Pridestar, has proposed a glass-and-limestone building rising seven stories from East Merrimack Street. Prices would range from $400,000 to as high as $900,000, he has said.

Plans had not been formally filed with the city as of Thursday.
