An arm of Lynnfield-based dairy company HP Hood hopes to bring a new rental housing complex to its former Charlestown headquarters site.
Hood Business Park LLC filed plans with the Boston Redevelopment Authority for a new 177-unit apartment building with 10,500 square feet of retail space at 480 Rutherford Ave.
Hood, which has been turning the former 20-acre industrial dairy plant site into an office/research park, said it intends to continue redeveloping it into a “vibrant mixed-use neighborhood.”
Its proposed amended development plan for the site includes a supermarket, liquor store, bakery, fitness uses and urban agriculture as additional proposed uses. Hood has set a 2019 completion date for the residential building and a new 2020 completion date for three office buildings at 520, 550 and 570 Rutherford Ave. and three parking garages.
