MILTON – A mixed use development at the former Hendries’ Ice Cream factory has been approved by the planning board.
The unanimous vote Thursday night came after a detailed review of the 16-page decision which sets out detailed requirements for the development.
“It is a moment to be savored,” said planning board member Alexander Whiteside, who has worked on drafting the decision for months.
The development still requires conservation commission approval.
Plans call for a four-story building to be built adjacent to the Central Avenue trolley stop. It would house 36 condominiums, 3,800 square feet of retail space and 88 parking spaces.
They include a requirement that 19 of the spaces to be used as public parking during the day, for the businesses both in the building and others in the area.
